Mindful Monday, Mindful Monday, where are we, who are we?

We are our habits that we’re tracking.

Bought a year’s supply of a sleep tracking app today. How is my sleep, how is my sleep?

I can’t ever remember not remembering to wake up when I’ve done something, like, get a glass of water, or move my blankets and pillows around.

But I woke up this morning, and sometime during the night I had taken off my hoodie and big puffy gray vest. I had done this subliminally, with no memory.

Perhaps for the first time ever. That I can remember.

Consumption

Mindful of water consumption. Liquid consumption. The grain powder from Isha, healthy enough to survive on forever if you ask the yogis, just add warm water and watch it not dissolve, so you eat it with a clumpy spoon. The detergent-smelling Pocari Sweat DIY granules. Tea leaves. Beer and liquor. Beer and liquor. Beer and liquor. Coconut water.

Lotus Training

Mindful of the body. Me and the Lotus Training Laboratory have been busy this week. Sequencing the hip openers. I found a healthier description of the process today. Two very nice YouTubers breaking down how they get into the full lotus for me. So I can stack my bones to reach the cosmos and find – stardust.

Mindful of the breath. I can return to Anapana Sati. I can apnea with the apnea app, to pretend I’m submerging.

Carrots

Mindful of the food. My trenchy diet. I bought two carrots today at the supermarket. Cut one in two and ate a half, split into six pieces. Crunching like a bunny with a grimace on my face. Not nearly enough calories to gain some weight back in my cheekbones.

Mindful of steps. The temperature is down out there. With the puffy gray vest under the puffy blue coat with the fuzzy fur lined hood, I walk the block. Mixing my metaphors, I am learning Pimsleur Chinese in my ears and taking even steps to the previously mentioned supermarket to get the previously mentioned carrot. I did forget herbal tea. I’m switching out my alcohol for it tonight, because the new sleep tracking app says to me – here are 5 good habits. And I have none of them. Now there are checkboxes staring at me, and I will obey. I will obey tonight, and maybe forever, the urge to be healthier by following the rules of physics and damn carrots.

Hibernation

Mindful of energy. So this is deep time to hibernate. Hibernate the body. Elucidate the mind. Data gathering and collection. Picking back up where I left off, but the landscape has changed so much. I suppose the story is the same, but the words and the way to tell it, this is a new era.

Took a cold shower today, as a self-challenge. No trickery, per vipassana. It was fine until the water started coming out that had been outside the minute before. Then it was liquid ice cubes and I was surprised.

Next time, I’ve got it!
